Levels of poverty too high- ZCSD

The Zambia Council for Social Development (ZCSD) says presidential candidates in the August elections do not need to put their interests first before that of the Zambian people with kind of wealth they have declared.

ZCSD Programs officer Pascal Bwalya says considering that the presidential candidates are already rich, they should concentrate on improving the lives of the people of Zambia if voted for.

Mr. Bwalya notes that the levels of poverty in the country are too high, thus it is important that the next government cuts on unnecessary expenditure, but focus on reducing poverty.

He has further called on political parties to come out clearly on how they intend to reduce the high levels of poverty in the country.
