ECZ challenged to take action

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has challenged the Electoral Commission of Zambia to take action against political parties whose members have continued to perpetrate violence.

YALI Governance advisor Isaac Mwanza says the electoral body must demonstrate that it has the power to act against political parties whose followers do not follow the electoral code of conduct.

Mr Mwanza tells QTV that Article 60 of the Constitution mandates the Electoral Commission of Zambia to ensure political parties do not engages in acts of intimidation.

He has also appealed to political parties to read and understand the provisions of the constitution.
