Cancellation of rallies irks HH

UPND president Hakainde Hichilema says the last minute cancellation of his party’s scheduled rallies in Lusaka’s Chawama and Kanyama constituencies BY Police is an act of desperation and despotism by the ruling Patriotic Front.

In a statement obtained by QFM, Mr Hichilema says the PF is in a clear state of panic as elections draw closer.

He says the PF has seen how the tide is turning in Lusaka Province and their response has been to stop the UPND campaigning at all costs.

Mr Hichilema states that political parties have the right to deliver their messages and manifestos to the people during campaigns and that people equally have the right to hear those messages.

Mr Hichilema questions why the ruling party has to resort to such underhand tactics if they feel they have achieved so much during their time in office.

He has since called on the Electoral Commission of Zambia to quickly condemn what he has described as abuse of office by the PF.

Police have cancelled the rallies the UPND was scheduled to hold this afternoon and on Sunday in chawama and kanyama respectively.
