Register with Council, ZNUT implores teachers

The Zambia National Union of Teachers (ZNUT) has implored all qualified teachers to register with the Teaching Council of Zambia.

ZNUT General Secretary, Newman Bubala says the council was not established to create problems for the teaching profession, but to ensure teachers abide by certain ethics of the teaching profession.

Mr. Bubala says the teaching council will enable unqualified teachers not to teach anywhere even in private school as the case is currently.

He notes that the purpose of the council is to build capacity and ensure the teaching profession is of high standard.

Mr. Bubula has however, called on the Teaching Council of Zambia to explain to teachers how it arrived on the registration fee.

He says teachers have complained of the registration fee being too high.
