Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba has refuted suggestions that President Edgar Lungu failed to meet with US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Linda Thomas-Greenfield.

Mr. Kalaba says it is not true that President Lungu can refuse to meet Ms. Greenfield who last week was in Zambia for a two days state visit.

He says President Lungu has in fact never refused to meet any diplomats since he assumed office.

He says President Lungu has always been available except that there are procedures that should be followed for anyone to see the country’s head of State as he is a very busy person.

Mr. Kalaba says his Ministry was thus waiting to receive a photocopy of the letter from the US embassy requesting for an appointment to meet President Lungu.
