More farmers to be put on e voucher

Government says the rolling out of the e-voucher system from the initial 13 to 39 districts will see the addition of six hundred thousand farmers.

Agriculture Deputy Minister Maxas Ng’onga says government under the Farmers Input Support Programme (FISP) will supply subsidized inputs to about 1.6 million farmers across the country.

Mr. Ng’onga says all the challenges that came with the implementation of the e voucher pilot program have since been dealt with to ensure that the program runs smoothly.

Mr. Ng’onga is confident that the expansion of the e voucher from the initial 13 to 39 districts will help them country in being food secure.

He says the government is determined to ensure that the country becomes a food basket for the African region.

He adds that Zambia for the past five years has been producing well and supplying even to the region because of the favorable agriculture policies initiated by the PF Government.
