A male juvenile of Sinda District in Eastern Province has been murdered by his friend while at a Nyau traditional camp known as Dambwe.

Police Deputy Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga says the police service has received a report in which a male juvenile aged 15 of Village Mukuwamba, Chief Mbangombe, from Sinda District was murdered by Jacob Zulu aged 19 of the same abode.

Mr. Hamoonga says it is alleged that on 30th June, 2016 around 09:00 hours whilst at a Nyau traditional camp known as Dambwe within the same village, the deceased insulted Jacob Zulu who then picked a stone and hit him on the head.

He explains that the deceased sustained a deep cut which caused severe bleeding and was then taken to Saint Francis mission hospital where he was admitted and later died on 1st July, 2016 at 18:00 hours.

He says the body of the deceased is lying at the Hospital mortuary in Katete awaiting an autopsy examination while the assailant has been apprehended and is in police custody.

In another related development police have instituted investigations after receiving a report of suicide which occurred on 2nd July,2016 at 19:00 hours reported  by Aggray Mbewe aged 36 of Navutika compound that his young brother Lackson Mbewe aged 28 of the same abode had committed suicide by cutting himself using a knife on the neck.

He says the deceased was seen by a tenant at same address who later reported to the elder brother that she had seen the deceased behind his mother’s house who is the Landlord of the premises noting that upon hearing the report of his young brother committing suicide Mr. Mbewe rushed to the scene of crime and found his young brother laying in a pool of blood with a deep cut on his neck and the knife alleged used was found next to the body of the deceased.

Mr. Hamoonga says the deceased body was deposited in Chipata General Hospital awaiting an autopsy and the knife has been kept at the police while investigations are on going.
