Operation Young Vote (OYV) has expressed concern that political parties taking part in the August elections are not doing enough to sensitize the electorate on the referendum on the Bill of Rights.

OYV Executive Director Guess Nyirenda says the approach political parties have taken in their campaign is as if the referendum will not be held alongside the August elections.

Mr. Nyirenda tells Qfm news that OYV holds the view that as major stakeholders in the electoral process, political parties should be in the forefront supplementing the work that the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) is doing in educating the electorate on the referendum.

He says if people are to make informed decisions on polling day, massive sensitization that involves all stakeholders is required.

Mr. Nyirenda says this is why his organization is currently on the Copperbelt to provide a form where the electorate can access information they need on the referendum.
