Next govt should prioritize rural development – Community for Human Development

Community for Human Development says the government that will emerge after the August 11th elections should prioritize rural development.

Programmes officer Sandra Ngosa says rural areas as well as people in rural areas have huge potential to contribute to the development of the nation.

Ms. Ngosa says it is sad that in some rural areas, there is little or no development, noting that development has mainly been concentrated in urban areas.

She says if rural areas are developed fully, it will reduce on people migrating from rural areas to urban areas and also reduce on the levels of poverty in rural areas.

Ms. Ngosa adds that there is need to empower youths in rural areas with entrepreneurial skills so that they are able to fend for themselves and their families.

Meanwhile, Ms. Ngosa has appealed to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to enhance sensitization in rural areas on the referendum.
