ZCID urges speedy enactment of political parties bill

The Zambia Center for Inter Party Dialogue (ZCID) has called for the speedy enactment of Political Parties Bill in order to bring maturity and sanity in the political sphere.

ZCID Executive Director Horrance Chilando tells QTVNews in a telephone interview from Nyimba district that there is need to formulate a regulatory framework that will compel politicians to behave in an acceptable manner.

Mr. Chilando says one way of ensuring that political parties are accountable for their actions is by enacting the Political Parties Bill which he believes will bring sanity on the political arena.

He says it is sad that politicians have failed to uphold their commitment on political violence.

Mr. Chilando has however, pledged to calling on political parties to refrain from all forms of political violence and intimidation, noting that behavioral change takes time.
