Mines chamber optimistic of slight ramp in copper production

The Zambia Chamber of Mines says it remains optimistic the country will record a slight increase in copper production this year compared to last year.

Communications Manager Talent Ng’andwe says the chamber’s optimism is based on the coming on board of Kalubila mines which is expected to ramp up production.

Mr. Ng’andwe says this coupled with some stability in the energy sector.

In an interview with QTV news, Mr. Ng’andwe says the chamber of mines further anticipates stability in copper production going forward should government entities and managements at mines completely resolve the issue of energy.

Mr. Ng’andwe adds that Zambia should see stability and the return of investor confidence in the mining industry if government maintains consistency in policies.
