ZAPD calls for an end to violence

The Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities (ZAPD) is warning political supporters against engaging in political violence as such acts have serious and lasting consequences that can result in someone becoming disabled.

ZAPD Information Officer John Kinuna says such acts can include permanent impairment, death or a whole range of physical and mental health problems that negatively affect one’s self-respect and expose them to the risk of further abuse.

Mr. Kinuna says t is important to raise awareness about violence, aimed at preventing further acts of violence and to advocate for safety and justice.

Mr. Kinuna says there is need for all the political supporters to avoid all forms of violence to prevent more cases of disability, further appealing to political party leaders to tame their cadres and ensure they avoid all forms of political violence.

And Mr. Kinuna is calling on Government to take concrete steps towards tackling the continued abuse of people with disabilities.
