Party manifestos shallow on poverty reduction – CSPR

The Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) has observed that most political party manifestos are shallow in speaking of poverty reduction.

CSPR Executive Director Patrick Nshindano says while there is a lot of talk on poverty reduction, how political parties will do this is not coming out in their messages.NSHINDANO CSPR

Mr. Nshindano has told QFM that political parties should have included in their manifestos strategies they will use to reduce poverty significantly.

He says reducing poverty should be more than a pronouncement especially that the levels of poverty in the country are too high.

Mr. Nshindano says political parties should come up with real mechanisms and policy direction on how to reduce poverty.

He notes that almost all political parties are speaking about the same thing on reducing poverty, but that what people want to hear are new and realistic solutions to the poverty challenge.
