The Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) has described as saddening and wrong timing the closure of the Post newspapers by the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA).
CCZ Secretary General Susanne Matale says whether or not the newspaper owes government money is not justification to close it down.
Reverend Matale says the CCZ views the closure of the Post newspapers as an act of persecution.
She has told QTV news that the CCZ is aware of the rhetoric that has been coming from government officials threatening to deal with the Post.
Reverend Matale has further stressed the need for government to prioritize dialogue whenever it is faced with any difficult issues.
She states that being antagonistic in dealing with perceived opponents is not the best way to resolve issues in a country that calls itself a Christian nation.
