Fire Brigade stops fire at GBM milling

Quick action by the Fire Brigade this morning prevented GBM Milling Company from going up in flames following a fire which emanated from a nearby company, Gravita Company limited in Lusaka’s industrial area.

The fire which started around 9hrs, swept through the outside of GBM Milling Company and Gravita Company Limited, the company dealing in recycling of batteries.

A check by the QFM News crew that rushed to the scene found the fire had already been put off by the fire brigade before it could spread further.

And an eye witness Ausward Chanda narrated that the fire was spreading rapidly prompting GBM Milling Company management to alert the fire brigade for help.

Mr. Chanda says had it not been for the quick action of the fire brigade the two companies could have been reduced to ashes considering the rapid rate at which the fire was spreading.

And Moses Mwila, a worker at Gravita Company Limited says the company has lost empty boxes of motor vehicle batteries in the inferno.
