CUTS embarks on FRA pricing structure project

The Consumer Unit and Trust Society (CUTS) has embarked on a project to look at the Food Reserve Agency’s pricing structure with a view of recommending changes in the FRA’s involvement in maize marketing.

CUTS Programs officer Jimmy Maliseni explains that they have looked at how other countries in the sub region market their maize, who buys it and how it affects the price of mealie meal.

Mr. Maliseni says the FRA’s participation in the maize marketing concept has an impact on imported finished products and exports.

He says the project will bring out what can be changed in the country’s marketing and maize processing which can then translate into reduced prices of mealie meal.

Mr. Maliseni states that at the end of the project, they want everyone involved in the maize marketing and especially consumers and traders to benefit equally.
