The Zambia Center for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID) has reminded the ruling Patriotic Front and the opposition United Party for National Development that they are not at war.
The ZCID has since appealed to the two parties not to turn the country into a war zone.

ZCID Executive Director Horrance Chilando says the two political parties must not behave as if they are at war in their quest for political power.
And Mr. Chilando has praised the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for taking a bold step towards ending political violence during the campaign period.
He has encouraged the ECZ to go ahead and suspend the campaigns if political parties continue perpetrating violence.
Mr. Chilando says it is a shame that despite many attempts by the church and other stakeholders to bring an end to political violence, politicians have continued perpetrating the vice.
Mr. Chilando says political party leaders must be ashamed for allowing their cadres to engage in political violence.
