Kabwe begins Power reign

Dan Kabwe prepares for his first test as Power Dynamos coach this weekend.

Kabwe who was appointed last weekend, will take charge of his first match this Saturday, when Power travel Lumwana Radiants in what will also be the two sides first-ever meeting in the FAZ Super League following the homesides’ debut promotion this season.

Power-Dynamos-1-300 (1)He replaced Tennant Chilumba who was fired on May 5 and assistant coach Anderson Phiri took interim charge of the Kitwe side.

Kabwe inherits a side that is currently 5th on the log on 24 points, seven behind leaders Zanaco.

Power visit third from bottom Lumwana who are hoping to stay unbeaten at home for a second straight game after beating 4th placed Green Buffaloes 2-1 on June 12.

The pressure is also on Kabwe to guide Power to their first away league win this season who have lost four of their seven away games.

Meanwhile in Saturday’s other league fixtures, 2nd placed Nkana visit Red Arrows in Lusaka while 7th positioned Nkwazi hope to end their three match winless spell when they hosts second from bottom Lusaka Dynamos.

Last placed Mufulira Blackpool, who have yet to pick up a league victory following their promotion this season, are home against 10th positions Nchanga Rangers.

Kabwe Warriors will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s 2-1 away loss at Power when they host fellow promoted team Lusaka Tigers.
