SACCORD hails political mood in Central province

The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has hailed the sober political mood prevailing in Central province ahead of the August elections.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe has told Qfm News from Kabwe via telephone that campaigns in the province have continued on a peaceful note.

Mr. Cheembe says his organization has taken note that all political parties have concentrated on selling their messages to the people.

He says SACCORD is urging all contesting political parties to sustain the prevailing peaceful campaigns by ensuring as possible that they refrain from politics of character assassination and hate speech.

Mr. Cheembe his organization is also calling for fair application of all legislation relating to the electoral process as campaigns heighten.
