Govt maintains FISP September deadline

Government has maintained that it will deliver the farming inputs for this year’s farming season to all farmers across the country before September 2016.

Agriculture Deputy Minister Maxas Ng’onga says this is possible because government has carryover fertilizers from Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia as well as the imported fertilizer which remained from the 2015/2016 farming season.

Mr Ng’onga says this is the more reason why government has insisted that it will deliver the farming inputs to farmers before September.

He says the PF Government has made it a culture to deliver farming inputs on time to give farmers ample time to plan well for the farming season.

Mr. Ng’onga however, states that what may delay to deliver are the seed packs as they are waiting to package fresh seed which may not be delivered before September.
