Police have instituted disciplinary and criminal proceedings in a case involving a police officer battering his wife whilst seemingly drunk in uniform.
A video has gone viral on internet of a police officer in uniform buttering his wife.
Police deputy spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has however reminded members of the public that by law the fight against crime is not only the sole responsibility of Zambia Police Service.
He explains that the person that was filming that incident and the people that were watching could have done better than what they did by reporting the officer to the police or encourage the victim to report the matter to police than just filming and posting the video on internet.
Mr. Hamoonga says the woman was beaten in full view of members of the public and all they could help her was to film her, a thing he says should not be tolerated in the society.
