Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) Acting Executive Director Mweenge Chimfwembe says there is need for politicians to uphold the values of decency.

Mr. Chimfwembe says the attitude to win political power by way of reducing commodity prices prior to elections must be stopped.

He says there is need for politician to be truthful even as they strive to win political power.

And Mr. Chimfwembe has called on the political parties to respect and strictly abide by the political parties’ code of conduct to remove suspicion and unnecessary tension.

And Chipata BASED Rights Activist Alick Mwanza has questioned the move by ZESCO to suddenly reduce the hours of load shedding.

Mr. Mwanza has wondered how the water levels could have risen during winter and not during the rainy season.

He says it is only hoped that the move is not a campaign gimmick but is genuine, stating that it would be sad see load shedding increase shortly after the elections.

And Mr. Mwanza says the holding of a referendum alongside the general election is a cost saving measure which Zambians should embrace.

He has since encouraged Zambians to take time to read and understand the Bill of Right which will be subjected to a referendum.
