WfC urges parties to commit to environment

siyangaWomen for Change (WfC) has called on all political parties participating in the 11 August 2016 general elections to state their plan to save the environment.

The WfC is fearful that most of the political parties have so far not elaborated on how they will address the environmental problems and environmental-related challenges in the Country.

Executive Director Lumba Siyanga says her organization wants commitment from political parties to address this key component on which human survival depends.

In a statement made available to Qfm News Ms. Siyanga has reminded parties that the environment encompasses everything that enables human-beings to live on earth.

Ms. Siyanga says the WfC is concerned that environment degradation is leading to increased poverty due to changes in rainfall patterns which are affecting food security and incomes at household level.

She notes that this is besides threatening access to clean water.

Ms. Siyanga states that her organization is of the view that such challenges cannot be addressed by the exchange of punches and bitter words that we are witnessing on the political arena.

She has advised that addressing such challenges requires strategic thinking and selflessness.
