ECZ cautions cadres puling down campaign materials

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has warned political parties in the Country against tearing down each other’s campaign material.

ECZ public relations manager Crispin Akufuna has reminded all political parties contesting this year’s general elections to be wary that it is a crime for any political party to tear down another political party’s campaign material during an election.

Mr. Akufuna has cautioned political parties to be wary that if any of their members are found tearing down another political party’s campaign material during this period they risk their candidates being disqualified from contesting in the elections.

He says the commission is thus calling upon political parties to report to the Police if they find anyone tearing down their campaign material.

Mr. Akufuna says the ECZ will follow up such matters with the Police and will determine what course of action to take based on the filed complaint.
