The Non Governmental Organisations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has urged Zambians to stand up and say no to political violence.

NGOCC Executive Director Engwase Mwale laments that political party cadres have continued to engage themselves in violent activities despite the many calls from the people of Zambia for them to desist from such acts.

Ms. Mwale has wondered why it so difficult for political parties to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner, when it is possible to campaign without provoking their opponents.

She has reminded the political parties of the resolutions they made during the interparty meeting to end political violence.

Ms. Mwale says violence has the potential to discourage people from taking voting in the voting process thus the need for political parties to stop engaging in violence.

She says there is need to create an environment where every Zambian will be free to turn up and be able to cast their vote in peaceful environment.
