People’s party President Mike Mulongoti has observed that the sensitization messages on the referendum will be overshadowed by the election campaign messages.
Mr. Mulongoti says the bill of rights is very important which is why the referendum needed to be held separate from the elections.
He notes that even the Electoral Commission of Zambia itself has concentrated so much on the elections at the expense of the referendum which is why stakeholders are against holding the two processes side by side.
Mr. Mulongoti says it would have been good for the ECZ to listen to the concerns of the stakeholders on holding the referendum alongside the general elections.
He states that people need enough time to understand the bill of rights before it is subjected to a vote.
