Japanese Ambassador to Zambia Kiyoshi Koinuma

Japanese Ambassador to Zambia Kiyoshi Koinuma says Zambia and Japan have a stable trade relationship which is strengthened every year.

The Japanese Ambassador to Zambia made these remarks during the official opening of the Carview Zambia Limited, a second hand car dealer.

Mr. Koinuma recalls that in 2015, Zambian exports to Japan included goods such as cobalt and tobacco totaling to 46 million US Dollars.

Mr. Koinuma says imports from Japan totaling to US$73 million mainly in composed of machineries, vehicles and vehicle parts.

He notes that currently, Zambia is facing some challenges such as electricity which affects business operations.

He adds that despite these challenges, there are more than a done Japanese companies that are producing results in Zambia such as Toyota Zambia, Toyota Corporation, Hitachi Construction Machinery Zambia Ltd, Shimizu Corporation, Japan Tobacco International and Nihin Sekkei.

Speaking at the same ceremony, Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Margret Mwanakatwe says the coming of Carview Zambia Ltd to Zambia is a vote of confidence in the PF Government for creating an enabling environment for investment.

Ms Mwanakatwe says the company’s investment in Zambia is pleasing to President Lungu because jobs will be provided.

And Carview Zambia Ltd Director Yutaka Hyondo says from the time Trade Car View website was established in 2004, the company has served customers in 241 countries and that more than 30, 000 units have been bought in Zambia alone.
