ZESCO United drawn against giants Al Ahly in CAF CL

Zambian Champions ZESCO United Football Club has been drawn in Group A of the CAF Champions League alongside Egyptian giants and eight times winners Al Ahly Football club.

The draws conducted at the CAF headquarters in Cairo today also pit the George Lwandamina tutored side against Ivorian giants Asec Mimosa and Wydad Athletic of Morocco.

This is the second time the Ndola based ZESCO Limited sponsored side will be playing in the lucrative group stage of the CAF Champions League having made their first appearance in 2009.

Group B of the Champions League has seen South African club Mamelodi Sundowns pitted against five times winners Zamalek of Egypt,two times winners Enyimba of Nigeria and Algerian giants ES Setif.

Sundowns were reinstated in the Champions League in place of AS Vita who were found to have breached the rules by fielding an ineligible player in the group qualifiers.

Group stage matches will kick off on 17th June.
