ZED disappointed with ongoing verification of voters’ register

Zambians for Empowerment and Development (ZED) says the discrepancies discovered in the ongoing verification of the voters register require urgent attention.

Party Spokesperson Wesley Miyanda says it is disappointing to learn that a number of people have been displaced from their preferred polling stations.

Mr. Miyanda points out that several people in Livingstone have been moved to other polling stations without their knowledge.

He says people may end up going to polling stations on the voting day only to be told that they are suppose to vote from another polling station situated very far from their area.

Mr Miyanda says this will lead to total confusion, and may be construed as a deliberate move to disfranchise voters.

Mr. Miyanda is appealing to the Electoral Commission of Zambia to correct these anomalies before its credibility is questioned by the people of Zambia.
