Africa can rise above its challenges- Chikwanda

African Development Bank (AfDB) board of Governors Chairperson Alexander Chikwanda says the African continent can rise above its challenges if it improves capacities in economic management.

Mr. Chikwanda says the continent can achieve this by turning its economic challenges into opportunities.

Speaking during the official opening of the AfDB annual meetings in Lusaka today, Mr. Chikwanda who is also Zambia’s finance Minister says foras such as the AfDB annual meetings are thus timely.

Mr. Chikwanda notes that the bank’s annual meetings provide the opportunity for coming up with solutions to address the externally induced challenges that are currently affecting African countries.

He says this is also besides providing the opportunity to refocus the Continent’s economies in a way that they become broader, resilient and sustainable.
