The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) says it is still open to talks for a possible alliance with the opposition MMD.

PF Deputy Spokesperson Frank Bwalya says President Edgar Lungu has however made it very clear that he desires to work with a united MMD.

Mr. Bwalya has told Qfm in an interview that the PF is thus aware that the MMD is making efforts to unite itself.

He says if therefore the MMD is going to have a convention the PF will have to decide on which side of the former ruling party to work with.

Mr. Bwalya states that there is no way that the PF will work with MMD members who are not leaders in the party.

He has disclosed that there are however some former MMD MPs that have approached the PF and who have since been accepted to stand on the PF ticket in the forthcoming general election.
