Bus carrying PF members overturns, kills one person

A Marcopolo bus carrying PF members from Lusaka to Ndola yesterday who came to attend the official launch of the PF 2016 campaign overturned leaving one person dead.

Central Province Police Commissioner Lombe Kamukoshi has confirmed the development that the accident happened around 20.30hrs at Kabowa area 7kms away from Kapiri Mposhi police station towards Kabwe along great north road.

Mr. Kamukoshi has identified the driver of the bus as Simon Mwape aged 46 of Twapya in Ndola who was driving bus Registration No. ABH 8577 from Lusaka to Copperbelt with seventy eight passengers on board who lost control of the moving vehicle due to excessive speed hence went to the extreme left side off the road and the bus fell on its left side of the body.

He says one passenger Fredrick Mutupa aged 20yrs died on the spot due to body injuries and that the body is in Kapiri Mposhi Hospital.

He adds that the driver of the bus and other passengers sustained various injuries and are admitted to Kapiri Mposhi Hospital.
