Lungu urged to operationalise the Constitutional court.

President Edgar Lungu has been called to quickly assent to the Bill operationalised the Constitutional court.

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) is urging President Lungu to keep in mind that there are many pending constitutional issues that require the interpretation of the Constitutional Court.

YALI Governance Advisor Isaac Mwanza says his organization is sad that from the time the Constitutional Court was constituted, it has not started sitting.

Mr. Mwanza says this in spite of the fact that it is the only Court with jurisdiction to handle constitutional matters.

He states that there is need for the Constitutional Court to become operational before the August 11th general election to enable those aggrieved seeks redress before the elections are held.
