Mr. Lubinda says the country has about 3.5 metric tonnes of maize and that annual consumption both human and industrial stands at 2.8 metric tonnes saying the excess of 664, 000 is available for export.

He says he cannot decide to export the maize by himself but that he is waiting for cabinet approval before exporting it to the region.

He adds that Zambia for the past five years has been a net exporter of maize to the sub region and that government is pleased with this development.

Mr. Lubinda says the successes in farming in the country can be attributed to the favorable policies introduced by the PF Government.
