The Electoral Commission of Zambia has urged Zambians to inspect the provisional register of voters in order to avoid any inconveniencing that might suffer on the poll day.

ECZ Chairperson Justice Esau Chulu is appealing to all registered voters including those who registered in 2005/6 to ensure that they find time to inspect the provisional register of voters.

Speaking when inspecting the provisional register of voters, Justice Chulu says inspecting the provisional register is vital more especially as the country prepares for the general elections.

He notes that the provisional of voters is the first step to guarantee their participation as Zambians in this year’s elections.

Justice Chulu says the Commission has made arrangements by providing each ward with a digital registration kit to attend to those registered voters who would like to correct their details, transfer to another polling station and replace a lost or damaged card.

The inspection of the provisional register of voters has commenced today in all the 7, 700 registration centres throughout the country and will end on Saturday 21 may 2016 at 17, hours.

Meanwhile ECZ Public Relations Crispin Akufuna has disclosed that it will accept any academic qualification higher than a Grade 12 certificates by the returning officer.

Mr. Akufuna says any qualifications obtained from tertiary institutions such as trade certificate, diploma or university degree will be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority or the institution that issued the certificate.

He says the commission has since advised the Examinations Council of Zambia to extend the validation of certificates to the general certificate of education (GCE) and other qualifications by the institution in order to confirm the authenticity of the qualification.
