Civil servants have been reminded of their duty to stay above the political fray in the run-up to the August 11 elections.

Civil Servants and Allied Workers Union Secretary General Joy Beene says civil servants should not engage in any activity which could call into question their political impartiality.

Mr. Beene adds that civil servants should familiarize themselves with the Civil Service Code of Conduct in order not to go contrary to it.

Mr. Beene notes that some civil servants had political activists with the ambition of disrupting government programmes.
