Zambia coach George Lwandamina has hinted that he might draft some foreign-based players for next month’s Cosafa Cup outing in Namibia.

So far, the team is comprised of 25 domestic league-based players who held their first training camp during the May 1 holiday weekend in Ndola.

Zambia will begin its proper countdown for the Cosafa Cup after June 4 following the teams’ return from Bissau where they will play Guinea Bissau in a penultimate 2017 Africa Cup Group E qualifier during when most of the foreign-based players will be on summer break.

“We will bring in those who are not active during our camping,” Lwandamina said.

“It will be most ideal, because they can’t keep away from the pitch when we have crucial games and we need them to keep fit during their holidays.”

Green Buffaloes striker Christopher Katongo and Zanaco midfielder Isaac Chansa are the high profile stars in the provisional Cosafa Cup team.

Meanwhile, Zambia are on bye from the preliminary group stage of the Cosafa Cup that Namibia will host from June 11-25.

Zambia will enter the competition at the quarterfinal stage on June 18 and await the winner from Group A comprising of Seychelles, Madagascar, Swaziland and fellow record four-time champions Zimbabwe.
