The Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has cautioned politicians in the country against issuing provocative and inciting statements during campaigns.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says the essence of campaigns is for contestants to present to the electorate what they would do for them.

Mr. Cheembe says campaigns should be based on issues and not on personalities, adding that politicians should not use abusive languages towards one another during campaigns.

He says politicians have a duty to preserve peace in the country and ensure the smooth conduct of elections.

Mr. Cheembe has since appealed to politicians to conduct decent campaigns and avoid insults in the run up to the August 11th elections.
