Resurfacing of political violence irks ZCID

The Zambia Center for Inter Party Dialogue (ZCID) has called on political parties to apologize to the church for failing to implement the resolutions of the recent interparty meeting on political violence.

ZCID Executive Director Horrance Chilando says it is a shame that political party leaders deceived the church that they were ready to end political violence to the extent of signing a communiqué.

Mr. Chilando says the violence that happened in Matero and the attempt to attack the UPND Secretariat by suspected PF cadres is a shame to the two major political parties.

He says it is through such occurrences that stakeholders in conflict resolutions tend to be relaxed because little efforts are being made political parties.

Mr. Chilando adds that President Edgar Lungu and UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema should take full responsibility of the remerging political violence in the country.
