The Electoral Commission of Zambia has revised nomination fees for aspiring Mayor,Council Chairperson and Councillors.

ECZ Public Relations Manager says candidates aspiring for the position of Mayor will now be required to pay K7,500,00,with candidates for the position of Council Chairperson required to pay K3,500,00 , while those vying to be councilors for city and municipalities will required to pay K1,500.00 with aspiring councilors for district council required to pay K750.00 nomination fee.
Mr Akufuna states that nomination fees for aspiring candidates for the presidential and national assembly elections remain unchanged at K75,000.00 and K10,000.00, respectively.
He says presidential candidates are required to deposit a minimum of 50% of the non-refundable nomination fees in the Electoral Commission of Zambia bank accounts from 10th to 17th May,2016.
Mr Akufuna adds that aspiring presidential candidates should present to the Commission a bank deposit slip as proof payment for inclusion on the nomination Timetable.
He states that the balance should be deposited in the ECZ bank account before nomination day.
Mr Akufuna further states that aspiring national assembly Mayoral candidates should deposit the full amount of the nomination fee in the Commission’s bank account before nomination day, while council chairperson and councilors will be required to make a cash deposit for the nomination fees as they lodge their nomination forms with the returning officers..
