Four suspects appear in court over ‘ritual’ murders

Magistrates-Court

Four people have appeared in the Lusaka Magistrate Court jointly charged with seven counts of murder relating to the suspected ritual killings in Lusaka’s George compound between 16th March and 17th April 2016.

The four suspects who appeared before Lusaka Resident Magistrate Greenwell Malumani are Lucky Siame, Lewis Chishimba Bwalya, Christopher Kasapo and Elvis Nyanga.

Among them are two army officers, a Zambia Air force civilian employee and a traditional doctor.

Magistrates Malumani explained the charge to the four suspects and adjourned the matter to 20th May, 2016 for mention.

This as instructions are being awaited from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to commit the case to the High Court for trial.

All the murders which the accused have been charged with were committed in a similar manner by crushing the left side of the head, removing body parts and later dumping the deceased near their homes or a nearby drinking place.  In all the incidences, a stone was found near the deceased’s body.
