Northern Province Minister Freedom Sikazwe

Northern Province Minister Freedom Sikazwe has predicted that farmers in the province will produce more than what they produced during the 2014/15 farming season.

Mr. Sikazwe says the Province is this year expected to record a maize bumper harvest even if some parts of the country experienced drought.

He says in an interview that farmers in the area will record a fair crop yield in other crops apart from maize.

Mr. Sikazwe attributes the projected bumper harvest to the timely distribution of inputs under the 2015/2016 farming season and the favorable rainfall in the area is recording.

And Mr. Sikazwe has disclosed that the province has managed to get a loan amounting to US$27 million to improve the lives of the majority of the people along the lake show under the Lake Tanganyika development project.

Mr. Sikazwe says the money is meant to improve the lively hood of the people and for the development of Lake Tanganyika.

He says infrastructure development is a cardinal undertaking that helps spur growth of an economy and avails the citizen’s efficient service delivery particularly in the social sector.
