Govt targets 242,000 social cash transfer beneficiaries

Government says it has targeted to put 242,000 people on the social cash transfer by the end of 2016.

Community development and social welfare Minister Emerine Kabanshi has told QTV News that currently, the social cash transfer is being implemented in 78 districts from the 19 districts when the PF came to power.

Ms. Kabanshi says the social protection programme has continued to make a difference in the lives of the marginalized in society.

She says the beneficiaries are now able to afford basic necessities and services using what they get from the social cash transfer.

Ms. Kabanshi adds that government is commitment to reducing the levels of poverty in the country.
