Lusaka Province Minister Mulenga Sata has ditched the ruling Patriotic Front for the opposition UPND.

Mr. Sata has since relinquished his position as provincial Minister.

Mr Sata who is the eldest son of late President Michael Sata announced his defection to the UPND at media briefing in Lusaka today where he was welcomed to the party by UPND president Hakainde Hichilema.

He says President Edgar Lungu has destroyed the party by embracing the former MMD leadership, adding that the PF leadership has not only injured him but the party in general.

Mr. Sata says his father’s body is turning in his grave with what is happening in the PF.

He further alleges that there is dishonest and corruption in the party more especially at State house.

Mr Sata has lamented that life in the country is becoming more and more unbearable under the leadership of President Edgar Lungu.

He says what the country needs is someone who will be able to manage the economy and tackle the challenges being faced.

Mr. Sata says UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema is the right person to run the affairs of the country.

And UPND president Hakainde Hichilema has urged UPND members to embrace and accept new members from the ruling party and other opposition political parties in order to grow the party.

Meanwhile Mr Hichilema has assured the people of Zambia that he would not take their support for granted and would ensure that they get a fair share of national development.
