Ballots printer not yet picked – Veep

Vice President Inonge Wina says the Electoral Commission of Zambia has not yet selected the printer of the ballot papers.

Responding to a question during the vice president’s question time by Kabombo west Member of Parliament Ambrose Lufuma who wanted to knVeep Inongeow why government is risking the country’s peace and stability by insisting on printing ballot papers in Dubai, Ms Wina says the ECZ is an independent and autonomous body.

She states that the Commission is one of the electoral bodies in the region that are highly respected.

Ms Wina says it’s only Zambians that want to undermine the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

Meanwhile ms Wina says it is irresponsible for some Zambians to spread rumors on social media that the recent attacks on foreign nationals in Lusaka were xenophobic.

She says insinuations of xenophobia are not true.

Ms Wina has told Parliament that the perpetrators of the attacks were criminals who took advantage of the recent ritual killings to plunder foreign owned shops.
