CTPD advocates for stable mining policy

The Centre for Trade Policy and Development (CTPD) says there is need for the country to have a stable mining policy if it is to maximize benefit from the sector.

CTPD Executive Director, Isabel Mukelabai says the country is not benefiting as it should from the mining sector.

Ms. Mukelabai says government should therefore come up with a mineral royalty tax mechanism that will enable the country benefit from the mining sector.

And Ms Mukelabai says although the move by government to table the Mineral Royalty Tax in Parliament is welcome, there is need to clarify the mechanism which will be applied in reviewing the tax.
