YALI links violence to abrogation of electoral code of conduct

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has cited abrogation of the electoral code of conduct as one of the reasons why violence erupts during elections.

YALI governance advisor Isaac Mwanza says his organization is however glad that youth leaders of various political parties are realizing the need to start implementing the electoral code of conduct.

In an interview with QTV Mr. Mwanza says YALI has taken note that besides adhere to the code of conduct youths leaders are also calling on the Police to conduct themselves professionally.

Mr. Mwanza says the hope of his organization is to see that resolutions that youths are making ahead of the August 11th general elections will culminate into having peaceful elections.

He has particularly encouraged youth leaders in Eastern province where his organization is currently conducting civic and voter education to unite and ensure that they engage in violence free campaigns.
