Treasury disbursed K492.6M for goods, services in March

The Treasury disbursed K492.6 million for goods and services in March this year.

A total of K88 million went towards procurement of drugs, while K100 million went to preparations for the 2016 General Elections.

Ministry of Finance Public Relations Officer Chileshe Kandeta has disclosed in a statement to Qfm News that  K1.2 billion was released towards fuel subsidy payments.

Mr. Kandeta says another K285.3 million was released for electricity subsidy payments.

He explains that these payments are what the his Ministry finds critical in ensuring that the Country’s economy remains functional and productive.

Mr. Kandeta has further disclosed that from the  March 2016 disbursements, the Farmer Input Support Programme [FISP] was funded with K130 million.

He says K33.8 million was given to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) to facilitate payment of works certificates for rehabilitation of storage sheds and other crop purchase related expenditure.

Mr. Kandeta notes that a further K61.6 million went towards the Local Government Equalization Fund (LGEF) and K42.9 million to social benefits of which social cash transfer programme got K21.7 million .

He says K136 million was released for health and education infrastructure projects while K69.8 million was disbursed to the road sector programmes.
