MMD president Nevers Mumba says there is no consent order signed by the High Court directing the former ruling party to hold a convention.
Dr. Mumba has since described as fraudulent and criminal the move by the expelled members of the party to set a date for the party convention.
He has told a media briefing in Lusaka today that the High Court this morning actually threw out the expelled members’ application for a consent judgment as it could not rule on their submissions without considering submissions of the legitimate MMD leadership.

Dr. Mumba says this means that there will be no MMD convention not until 2017.
He says those calling for a convention are wasting their time if they think they will have their wish granted in any other way other than following the MMD constitution.
Meanwhile Dr Mumba has advised against experimenting with issues that can cause further divisions in the Country and create opportunities for violence.
He says the decision on where to print ballot papers for national elections should be consultative and made with the involvement of all stakeholders.
