Outgoing House of Chiefs Chairperson Senior Chieftainess Nkomesha Mukamambo II of the Soli people of Chongwe district has called on fellow traditional leaders in the country to refrain from partisan politics in order to preserve the integrity of the chieftaincy institution.

Chieftainess Nkomesha has reminded traditional leaders that they needed to maintain their respect in society as fathers to all by remaining neutral in political matters.

She adds that the constitution does not allow Chiefs to openly engage in partisan politics.

Chieftainess Nkomeshya says a traditional ruler engaging in partisan politics would find it very difficult to preside over his/her people who have different political affiliations.

Chieftainess Nkomeshya is disappointed that some traditional leaders have aligned themselves to certain political parties a situation she has described as worrying.
